First of all, I am not mysterious at all, but that's what I want to be. I always dream of becoming someone different from others. And I reflected my wishful thinking in my teen's novel.
That's how Mira (the character in Pengembaraan Fantasi) was created. Mira was my childhood wish. She is rebellious, stubborn, doesn't think much, always do things as what she wants, and yet clever. More cons than pros huh? But that's where the fun comes. Being someone who is unpredicted, chaotic and useful at the same time, will add more colors to life.
When I was given a chance to write my first book, without a second doubt I know what my genre would be: fantasy, mystery, adventure. The reason behinds it? I always imagine something that can never survive a reality, something that can never exist. And the only way for me to make my imagination comes true, is to let it lives through writing.
Writing to me is not only about entertaining people. I write my dreams, and share it with others. It is more on self-satisfaction. If people enjoying it, then it is a bonus. If not, at least I manage to please myself :)
I started with reading The Famous Five, by Enid Blyton, followed by Nancy Drews (collected more than 100 books in her series but now all were gone), Hardy Boys, and few others. When I was a teenager, I followed Christopher Pikes' series, and now I'm obsessed with Charmed series. No wonder I'm following their paths in my writing :) In fact, my favorite TV shows/movies are Charmed, Card Captor Sakura, Heroes, Supernatural, Smallville, Lord of The Rings, Independence Day and many more. One common factor: all include supernatural elements.
Some say my books have the-Harry-Potter influenced. But personally, they are more influenced by Charmed and Card Captor Sakura. And honestly, I'm not the big fan of Harry Potter. I don't know why, but it's the only million-dollar series that failed to penetrate me. I guess people have their own favorites ;)
